| Biography: |
John Costigan was born in Providence, Rhode Island, on February
29, |

1888. He is a self-taught artist, who is considered
unsurpassed in his rendering of pastoral subjects. By the height of
his carrier in the1930’s, he had received more important awards than
any other graphic artist in America. Living on a farm in Orangeburg,
New York, Costigan drew material for his paintings and etchings from
his own locals, even using his family members as models in his work.(1)
