JMBG Notes: |
This work exhibits Wilbur’s true mastery of
the brush stroke. |
|
|
He has
achieved wonderful dynamics with a minimum amount of
brushwork, beautifully demonstrated in the realistic excitement of the
children complimented by their father’s greeting, as well the
simultaneous symbolism of the warm comfort of a home defying the harsh
outside world, portrayed by the brisk wind of an autumn day. Or are
we perhaps looking at the sweet moment of welcoming home the soldier
returning from the winds of World War II? |
