| JMBG Notes: |
As most of this artist’s works depict coastal
marine scenery, |
| |
the depiction of a clipper-ship such as The
Red Jacket, built in Rockport, Maine in 1853, is somewhat unique.
It is a fine tribute to the naval history of the Maine coast, and a
part of Americana. |

|
| Presentation:
|
Framed, as acquired. We removed the backing paper
to |
| |
expose the inscription on the back of the artist
panel. The original period frame is left on the work, although a more
suitable reframing would bring out the best in this painting. |
| |
|
| Condition: |
Very fine condition. Occasional, hardly visible
tiny surface |
| |
spots. Minor surface scuffs at
margins from the frame. Edges of artist board have few wear spots from
fastening nails, but not into the paint. The frame has a very small
surface chip. |
