We have come across other paintings by this artist,

information. We know from the inscription on the back that the
artist’s address was Elmhurst, Illinois.

This is a very dynamic piece of work, well
executed with large |
| |
brush strokes in rich, vivid colors. A beautiful painting
with strong impressionist quality.
The back of the stretcher bears
the artist’s inscriptions in pencil:
"In the San Juan Mts." –Colorado- Leonard Dobratz, Elmhurst, Ill.
To "Jack" from Len The stretcher is stamped with an emblem containing F&R Co.
and 24.

A tear (1" or 2.5 cm in length) through
both paint and canvas |

[A-1, A-2] in the right
tree area had been repaired with a glue prior to our acquisition.
It is not readily visible, and can be restored properly. Stretcher
mark is visible along the top. Slight soiling in upper left sky
[B-1]. Small paint scratch and very slight paint crack over edge of
stretcher at the upper right corner [B-2]. Minor age cracks in white
pigment. Slight twist in stretcher. Some cleaning needed, but overall
in good condition. |
