Our Antiquities gallery also draws from cultures worldwide. It
consists of artifacts and art objects from the Pre-historic period
and the Ancient world, primarily the Pre-classical and Classical
Mediterranean and Near East. In the Americas, it includes the
Prehistoric and Pre-Columbian periods.
For the sake of simplifying overlapping dates and the number of
gallery subsections, the Antiquities gallery also includes the
MEDIEVAL period, up to about the fall of the Byzantine Empire in
1453A.D. Items after this date are listed in the Antiques gallery.
