Description:

This is a beautiful example of Jalisco flat figural ceramic,

 

depicting a ball player wearing a headdress and a loin cloth. He is shown with large dangling earrings. The piece exhibits minimal accretions. The dark stains on the surface are manganese deposits commonly found on excavated ceramic artifacts.

   
Condition: The figure appears to have been professionally restored
  (horizontal fracture through torso [see arrows in "back restoration" image]), leaving the nipples on the chest chipped off. There is also possible restoration on the right and left forearms [see arrows with (?) in "back restoration" image] The rest of the figure is in very fine condition.
