| Description: |
This is
possibly a piece of chair ornamentation. There are |
| |
three peg holes in the cheeks and the neck for
attachment. Two of the three original wooden pegs are still inside
the cheek holes, the one in the neck is missing. The number 231 is
inscribed on the back in pencil.

|
| Presentation:
|
Mounted
on a professionally made black Lucite stand, but not |
| |
attached to it, so it can be
easily removed for examination. |
| |
|
| Condition: |
The wood is cracked along its grain vertically
just left of the |
| |
nose, with a couple of minor age cracks on the right side. The surface
was most likely once painted, but no trace of paint remains. The
surface is
weathered showing the wood grain clearly. The very nose tip was
chipped off perhaps still during the chairs use, and it has been well
worn.
The major features of the face remain prominent. |
