Place of Origin: Egypt

Date of work: ca. 800-600 B.C.

Medium: Silver.

Height (with stand): 2-7/8" (7.4 cm)
Maximum width: 3/8" (1.0 cm)
Maximum depth: 9/16" (1.4 cm)

Description: The amulet is cast from solid silver of high purity. It is

mounted on a two-level square Lucite base. Nefertum stands with his left leg advanced, with his arms held tightly at his side. He wears a loincloth and a headdress in the form of a lotus flower surmounted by a plume. At the back of his head is the remnant of a loop for suspension."[1]

Presentation: Mounted on frosted Lucite two-tier base.

Condition: The statuette is well worn, with most areas quite smooth.

However, the ears as well as the areas around the waist, both front and back, still show some nice detail, suggesting the original detailing was very fine. The tops of the plumes surmounting the lotus headdress are fractured off. The statuette is fractured at knee level, and repaired with cyanoacrylate. Only about one third of the suspension ring remains. The amulet has a very nice dark, and in areas heavy patina of metallic black, as well as gray and green tones.
