JMB Galleries emerged as the result of a deep passion for collecting art and artifacts of ages past and present, the desire to preserve and restore the handiworks of cultures that may soon be but a memory, and a fascination with the ingenuity and self-expression of the human soul.
True art is timeless. It is timeless, because it is the child of the human spirit, which transcends time. It spans all art forms, from fine art to the primitive. However, what is "primitive"? Let us put away our snobbish sophistication. For the "primitive" man sitting at his fire, chipping at a stone to make a spearhead put all his knowledge and skill into its fabrication, for it was survival for him, and yet the perfection of form that he toiled with was the pinnacle of his art.
It is the same with all other art, and where more evident to us today than in fine art? Whenever the human spirit, trapped in the physical body struggles to escape into the more ethereal, more idealistic, to capture that which cannot be captured, it does so through art – whenever it wins the battle, however briefly, it creates a masterpiece.
